Having been born in Kansas and then raised in Maine, I made my way to Brooklyn, where I studied Communication Design at Pratt Institute. I’ve been art director, designer, and illustrator in the Big City ever since.
It’s taken a good long while to arrive at a cogent philosophy of commercial art and design, but over the last 20-plus years as a professional, this is what I’ve come up with: listening + discovery + imagination + exploration + taste = usually something good.
I’ve enjoyed leading teams, being part of teams, and using Teams. I have copious experience with digital platforms as well as pre-21st century media. I’ve managed art directors, interns, photo shoots, vendors, digital projects, and led presentations. I’ve worked with not-for-profit performing arts organizations (both enormous and microscopic), and have worked for several years with multi-national advertising agencies.
Please feel free to get in touch with any questions or project proposals you might have. I’m interested in short- or long-term projects.
